The U.S. leads the way by producing more of the most nutritious foods in the world, but it is the United Kingdom, Japan and Canada that are leading in terms of quality.
The U:Western Food GmbH and its subsidiary, The Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF), released its annual World’s Most Sustainable Food Index ranking of more than 2,400 nations on Thursday.
U.K. leader George Osborne ranked first in producing the highest level of quality, with an average of 80.7 per cent of its food produced meeting U.N. standards.
Germany, followed by Switzerland and Japan, ranked third, fourth and fifth respectively.
U:WAPFs ranking includes scores from nine categories: quality, safety, nutrition, sustainability, sustainability indicators, health, and environmental protection.
It ranks each country based on their score, with the higher the number, the more sustainable and healthy their food is.
The WAPF says this is because they don’t use pesticides or chemical fertilizers, and they are the only major developed country to require farmers to use non-GMO ingredients.
The report also notes that the U.B.C. in Canada, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and Sweden all rank higher than their European counterparts.
“This ranking is an indicator of how the U: Western Food Gombak and its partners are creating the best, most sustainable, and most nutritious food in the globe,” said WAPFs CEO, James Palmer.
“It is an indication of the tremendous work being done to provide our world with more of what is truly wonderful.”
