I was recently invited to a traditional Japanese dinner in Kyoto.
We were joined by my wife and our two kids.
It was an afternoon with some delicious food and some great conversation.
My wife has always loved the tradition of a meal at a family table.
So, I asked, “Wouldn’t it be great if you could make some of these traditional meals at home?”
She agreed and we did.
The following evening, we prepared a traditional dinner with a mixture of traditional ingredients, all from the home kitchen.
I think you’ll agree, it was a great dinner.
As I said earlier, it is important to celebrate the uniqueness of a place.
Here are my tips for making Japanese food at home.
* Use your family and friends to make the dish.
Make sure you use Japanese ingredients in your dishes and that they have their own unique flavor.
I’ve made a few recipes using rice cakes and Japanese sake.
If you want to try this yourself, you can find them at the Japanese Market in Tokyo or at the Nissin Market in Osaka.
* If you’re making a traditional meal, use only the ingredients you know and love.
For example, if you’re preparing traditional sushi, use fish sauce.
If the dish is vegetarian, try tofu.
I used my rice cakes for this recipe and they turned out wonderful.
* Choose a dish that your family or friends will enjoy.
For me, it’s rice cakes.
If I make a vegetarian version, I might make a traditional rice cake, which is very popular in Japan.
* Keep it simple.
I find it really easy to make these recipes in the kitchen, but I find that there are many more dishes that can be done in the living room.
* Be creative and be adventurous.
It’s always good to be able to make something that is different than what is being served.
I hope these tips will help you to create a Japanese dinner that is delicious and easy to prepare. Enjoy!
